West Country Concertina Players meet regularly at Ruishton Village Hall, near Taunton, throughout the year in January, March, May, July, September, and November.

The Play Days are structured so that there is something for everyone - from the absolute beginner through to advanced players. There are workshops for all concertina systems usually run by Club Members and in addition we also have occasional guest Tutors.

The day is designed so that there is time to socialise and share experiences, so much learning takes place through 'osmosis'. There are opportunities to play together both in a formal three or four part band and also on a more informal basis at the end of the day.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided (donations please).

The fee for the day is £5.00.

At the meetings we have planned workshops and a theme for the day, with members kept informed in advance of the goodies being arranged!

Hello to everyone, wherever you are.
He hope you are safe, well and coping with this strange experience as best as you can. There are very difficult times but hopefully things will begin to settle before too long.

Of course, May Ruishton has had to be cancelled, however, it is important to remain optimistic, so future dates remain booked and will be cancelled, if necessary, as time goes on.

Therefore, what we had originally intended to do in May, we will now carry forward - to whenever we are able to have our next Play Day.

We are working on a slightly different timetable to normal but we think there will be two workshops during the morning, with a 15 minute comfort break between them.

A slightly later lunch break.

Then an extended 'showcase' during the afternoon for all to share what we have been doing during the Coronavirus restrictions.  This may be tunes we've learned from Mike Selley and Claire Wren's links, general tunes/songs, even other instruments.

The purpose is to make it day of celebration and freedom. We think V.E. Day and the of liberation of Bergen-Belsen - should be still be celebrated this year, even if it is a bit late!

In the meantime keep an eye out for music from Mike and Claire.
Stay safe and carry on squeezing!

Best wishes

Can you help with Beginners English Concertina at Ruishton Meetings?

We are looking for a group of folks who would take it in turns to assist Beginners on the English Concertina. We have the Frank Butler book, so you would not have to do any preparation. Please let Kate know if this is something you could help us with.
