English concertina wanted....

48 keys, Raised wooden ended, Wheatstone Type 6 or Aeola preferred. Lachenal New Model considered. Tenor/Treble also considered.

Ideally, I would like the concertina to be in playable, original condition, but would consider an instrument in need of TLC.

UK only, preferably South.

Lachenal “Excelsior” with brass reeds, 48 steel buttons, ebony ends. Green and gold patterned leatherwork and bellows. Serial number 18198 dated around 1873. Very good condition for 150 years old! Bought for £1,400. With soft case.

I bought this instrument, reconditioned by Chris Algar, around 5 years ago but have not been able to learn to play it due to a worsening RSI condition.

English Concertina for sale

made by McNella music, Ireland,

with case.

This is an unwanted present bought for the present owner in an act of misplaced kindness.
It has not been played other than to ascertain all the notes sounded.
This is a modern instrument which uses the enharmonics to cut down the number of buttons.
McNella is now selling this type of instrument for £414.00 plus P&P.and does not have any in stock.
This is an excellent buy for a beginner on the English concertina, unlike some of the older instruments selling at a similar price. which usually require several €100s
of work to bring them up to playing standard.

£350
