Ruishton Band Members and guests from Ruth Harry’s Jammers had a fabulous day out at Bampton. The weather was kind to us – it didn’t rain and it wasn’t too cold so we started early and finished late! Thanks to all who participated to make this event happen.
Some of us joined the opening musical street procession with Bampton Players which went from the War Memorial down to the Bridge and then we went to Castle Care Home to entertain the residents for an hour or so. Our familiar old tunes were well received, along with our new repertoire which includes singing and playing songs such as Molly Malone and You Are My Sunshine.
From there we had a quick coffee and played in the Entertainment Tent where we were joined by a new Anglo player who is a potential new member to the club. We took a couple of hours off to have lunch, ‘do our own thing’ and look around the Street Fair before re-assembling at the Entertainment Tent once again for another very enjoyable half hour of music making.
To complete the day, we went to Blackberries Restaurant where Doreen and Paul provided an excellent Cream Tea which inspired us to play together for another hour and a half!! We were joined by a number of other musicians who happened to have their instruments with them, so by six o’clock we had started a small session! A good day was had by all and now we need to get ready for next year’s All the Fun of the Fair!
